The word tension
creates tension
A subtle turbulence
that compels us
to make a choice

We are often taught
to avoid it
to escape it
to resolve it

And I wonder
if staying with tension
is not as bad
as we are made to believe

Creativity emerges
in the tension between
freedom and structure

Rest lives
in the tension between
action and inaction

Pleasure thrives
in the tension between
restraint and indulgence

Love is felt
in the tension between
judgement and indifference

Matter could exist
in the tension between
particle and wave

Instead of herding it away
like a restless animal
We could try
to create a quiet place
for the unresolved tension

A small shrine
where it breathes
between two things
to create chances
for something new
