Tree: Morning friends!

B1: Good morning Tree. I am gearing up for another hectic day. Business meetings, client presentations, stand up meetings, work work work.

B2: Me too! Getting kids ready for school, getting adults ready for work, food, laundry, car wash, home deliveries, bills. How about you?

Tree: I do not do much. I am just up and about. Roots are making a slow march into the soil, some of the leaves have left and some leaves have arrived. So are the folks who call me their home, the birds, the bats and the insects. Lichens have grown 0.01 mm more today. They would be growing at 0.02 everyday if the air was not so heavy with dust and smoke. Speaking of air, I am going to do my best to absorb my daily dose of 58 grams of Carbon di Oxide to make some much needed oxygen. Making room for some people, doggies and cats who take shelter under my shade during the day.

B1: Starts with “I do not do much” and brags for an hour. How cute!

B2: Yes ! Thanks for an organic morning boost of Knowledge tree!

Tree: Hahaha. Boost is the secret of my energy. But the “boost” I am afraid is not all organic.

B1: You know inside my cafeteria there is a ban on single use plastic. We are using cutlery and plates made from the flesh from your kind.

B2: Haha you mean wooden cutlery! I see my garbage bins full of them these days.

Tree: I hope I don’t end up being a spoon on that Chinese fast food joint.

B1: You never know tree. It’s all about making business sense.

B2: Yes if the business feels you are better utilised as a fork than a tree itself, then you are on your way into the mouth of a hungry person who feels that his work is so important that he has no time to cook his meal or bring his own cutlery. He would want the food to be delivered hot and fresh to his doorstep.

B1: And well, no one can expect people like this to be carrying their own reusable spoons and forks.

Tree: I guess these situations are created so that people can make unnecessary things important.

B2: Haha you are defining Entrepreneurship.

B1: LOL. Not all entrepreneurs are doing this but yes a lot of them make money out of making unnecessary things important.

Tree: Then who are the “preneurs” that make necessary things important?

B2: Necessary things like you?! There are a few people who are really working towards making necessary things important and there are many who talk that language but are really only trying to appear like they are doing it.

Tree: What! That sounds complicated. Why would they do that?

B2: There are many incentives for doing that. Everyone is playing a game called appearance. There are degrees you can get on how to make yourself into a product that sells. Any product that appears to care about the environment is considered valuable these days. Just like your single use wooden cutlery. It is made to appear like it cares about what is necessary while not causing any hurdle in the lifestyle of people. Keeps people the way they are and yet gives them a feeling that they are doing something good for the world.

B1: I just got my lobby decorated with a fountain that uses recycled water. The director derives a lot of pride in it. I heard him telling one of the managers that this fountain will land us some much needed deals from our high profile clients.

B2: Like a true fountainhead. It looks like this planet has become the feathers of the peacock called Man.

Trees: The real peacocks grow their own feathers. Not the same with Pavo sapiens!

B1: Pavo sapiens?

Tree: Half scientific names of peacocks and humans respectively.

B2: Another knowledge bomb! That’s good for today. Have to get to work. Good day friends. Catch you during the break.

 Tree: Good day !

 B1: See you guys…
